17 May 2022 : More managerial farewells as assistant Colin Woodthorpe heads for Chester

Runcorn Linnets can confirm the departure of our assistant manager Colin Woodthorpe, who has accepted an invitation to become Calum McIntyre's No2 at Chester.

We have been really lucky to have had someone of Colin's renown, experience and calibre in the post over the last couple of years and he has proved a perfect foil for manager Calum in their time together at APEC Taxis Stadium.

Anybody who knows Colin will attest that he is a man of the utmost integrity with a high level of football knowledge at all levels.

He has played a key part in the development of our squad.

As well as appearing in the top divisions in both England and Scotland, Colin built a strong affiliation with Chester during his time there as a player, so this move is very much like going home for him.

Peter Cartledge, chairman of Runcorm Linnets, said: "We are delighted that Colin has not only been successful at Runcorn Linnets but very much enjoyed his time with us, like Calum showing a commitment which is second to none.

"We wish Colin well on his return to the National League and assure him and his family - especially son Ash, who we have all got to know and love - of a warm welcome when ever they come back to see us in the future."
