The Northern Premier League
Where are they now - Colin Quirk - 14 Feb 2009

Colin is currently in Australia and he has told us about his time there so far.

I played my football or soccer as it is called where I was in Melbourne, Australia. The team was called Dandenong Thunder Soccer Club. They won promotion to the top league in Melbourne, which is the Melbourne Victoria Premier League, which is considered the strongest league outside of the National league, which is the A League. It has teams like Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC who recently had players such as Dwight Yorke and Juniniho, who played for Middlesbrough.

I really enjoyed my time with the Linnets, starting back in 2006. The first season we had in the North West Counties 2 was great. The support we received that year was brilliant, which made a great season even better, to be playing in front of a good crowd every week home and away. It was just a pity we never won it, but the job of promotion was done.

The season after was just as good in means of support but for me with injury and then struggling to get my place back, I moved on to try and play some regular football, but I really enjoyed my time with the Linnets and I would like to thank everyone connected with the club for their support to me and the team and I wish you all the very best for the rest of the season and the up and coming ones.
