Wigan Athletic U18s goalkeeper Owen signed on work experience in February 2022 as the club grappled with more injury problems between the sticks.

He completed the season with us before returning to the Latics to agree his first professional contract.

Owen had played 25 games for Linnets' NPL colleagues Newcastle Town earlier in 2021-22, saving three penalties in a shootout victory against Kempston Rovers in the FA Trophy.

He made 22 appearances in 2020-21 as Latics retained the Professional Development League North title and became National Champions at The Valley.
