Where are they now - Mark "Spike" Carter - 30 Oct 2008

Mark works in the Press Office for both Liverpool & Everton as well as doing work for TWI TV

"When I left Runcorn in 1991 after 7 seasons, I played for Barnet from 1991 -1993. In total, I made 82 appearances, scoring 30 goals in that time (Ed: the reputed transfer fee at that time was £40,000). Bury FC then took me to Gigg Lane and I played there until 1997, scoring 62 goals in 134 appearances (Ed: a bargain buy at that time for just £6000). My league career ended at Rochdale the following season. After spending one season at Ashton Utd, I returned to Runcorn as player manager during 1999/2000. After this, I became Chief Scout at Accrington Stanley. I now work in the Press Office at Liverpool FC and Everton FC, as well as doing some work for TWI TV. My playing days are not quite over, as I regularly turn out for Aintree Valentine Over 40s and last season we won the Umbro Over 40s competiton. I still see other former Linnets players, including Dave Pugh, who works at Everton. and Mick Doherty, John Carroll and Gary Anderson. I remember my times at Runcorn with great affection and wish the club well for its future".
