Below is a tribute to him from the Daily Post:
The term legend is thrown around far too casually these days but in the case of the great Don Spendlove there could be no more befitting word. Regarded by many as the greatest player ever to wear a Rhyl shirt, the prolific striker passed away in January 2011 just three months short of his 90th birthday. Spendlove’s achievements for the Lilywhites will surely never be matched – 629 goals in a glorious era at Belle Vue in the 1940s and 50s.
